Dopo aver affrontato un anno ricco di risultati e soddisfazioni, prosegue l’avventura nel ciclismo professionistico femminile internazionale di Travel & Service che per il secondo anno consecutivo affiancherà Valcar nel nome ufficiale del team.
Ancora una volta “Valcar – Travel & Service” sarà la dicitura ufficiale di una squadra che conta tra le sue fila – tra le altre – campionesse del calibro di Martina Alzini, Elisa Balsamo, Chiara Consonni e Vittoria Guazzini, le quali, grazie alle loro gesta, hanno fatto conoscere il marchio Travel & Service in tutta Europa.
Ma questa partnership è più di un semplice accostamento di nomi: è una vera e propria condivisione di principi, idee e progetti per questo 2021. Dalla volontà di puntare sulle giovani atlete italiane più talentuose alla cura meticolosa del settore giovanile (esordienti, allieve e junior), ma anche la scelta, ad esempio, di Desenzano sul Garda (13-21 febbraio) come sede del ritiro di rifinitura del team prima del debutto ufficiale del 27 febbraio all’Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (Belgio).
“Fare il ritiro in Italia e non andare all’estero è stato un piccolo gesto per dimostrare la vicinanza ad un settore, quello turistico italiano, in un momento difficile” raccontano Lucio Dognini e Livia Suardi, titolari di Travel & Service, azienda che opera anch’essa nel settore turistico.
“Così come lo scorso anno, sposiamo il progetto sportivo di Valentino Villa, ovvero quello di dare la possibilità a giovani atlete italiane di poter fare ciclismo a livello professionistico e di supportare queste splendide campionesse nel percorso di avvicinamento alle Olimpiadi di Tokyo. Nel 2020 le Olimpiadi non ci sono state e sono state posticipate a quest’anno, ma ciononostante sono arrivati numerosi risultati. Le ragazze sono state, a dir poco, bravissime: Elisa Balsamo ha vinto due medaglie d’oro agli europei di pista (madison, omnium), una medaglia d’oro anche su strada tra le under 23, bronzo al mondiale nella madison senza dimenticare una vittoria bellissima nell’ultima tappa della Vuelta. Come non ricordare anche Martina Alzini: si è unita al nostro team a metà stagione e ha subito vinto ad Arcade e Bovolone e in pista è andata fortissimo. Infatti Martina ha vinto il titolo italiano nell’eliminazione e il bronzo nello scratch, ma il meglio di sé l’ha dato in ambito internazionale con l’argento nell’inseguimento individuale e nell’inseguimento a squadre. E quella gara dell’inseguimento a squadre è stata un’emozione. Vedere le nostre quattro ragazze Alzini, Balsamo, Consonni e Guazzini vincere l’argento e fare registrare il nuovo record italiano è stato incredibile. Perché anche Chiara Consonni e Vittoria Guazzini sono andate benissimo: Chiara ha vinto 3 medaglie d’oro ai campionati europei di pista ed è arrivata terza in una gara difficile come Plouay, mentre Vittoria è stata bravissima a conquistare l’oro nella madison agli europei su pista, l’oro nell’inseguimento a squadre under 23 e il bronzo al campionato italiano a cronometro. Sempre in pista sono arrivate soddisfazioni da Miriam Vece che ha vinto il bronzo nei 500 metri sia al mondiale che all’europeo e ha conquistato due tricolori sia nei 500 metri che nell’eliminazione. E poi c’è stata la prima vittoria di Silvia
Pollicini a Racconigi e bellissimi risultati nel settore giovanile con Matilde Bertolini, campionessa italiana donne junior a cronometro e Beatrice Bertolini, Sofia Dognini, Marta Pavesi e Francesca Pellegrini, brave a conquistare l’argento al campionato italiano. Insomma, il 2020 è stato un ottimo anno e parlare, ripetere e raccontare di queste ragazze per rendere onore a queste atlete non è mai abbastanza”.

Travel & Service: the adventure in women’s cycling continues together with Valcar after a 2020 full of successes
After facing a year full of results and satisfactions, Travel & Service‘s international women’s professional cycling adventure continues, which for the second consecutive year will join Valcar in the official name of the team.
Once again “Valcar – Travel & Service” will be the official name of a team that counts champions as Martina Alzini, Elisa Balsamo, Chiara Consonni and Vittoria Guazzini among its ranks, who made the Travel & Service brand known throughout Europe.
This partnership however is more than a simple juxtaposition of names: it is a real sharing of principles, ideas and projects for this 2021. From the desire to focus on the most talented young Italian athletes to the meticulous care of the youth sector (beginners, students and juniors ), and also the choice, for example, of Desenzano sul Garda as the venue for the team’s refinement retreat before the official debut on 27 February at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (Belgium).
“Collecting in Italy and not going abroad was a small gesture to demonstrate closeness to a sector, the Italian tourism sector, in a difficult moment” say Lucio Dognini and Livia Suardi, owners of Travel & Service, a company that operates also in the tourism sector.
“Just like last year, we are marrying Valentino Villa‘s sports project, which is to give young Italian athletes the opportunity to be able to do professional cycling and to support these splendid champions on their way to the Tokyo Olympics. In 2020 the Olympics did not take place and they have been postponed to this year, but nevertheless numerous results have arrived. The girls were very good: Elisa Balsamo won two gold medals at the European track (madison, omnium), a gold medal also on the road among the under 23, bronze at the World Championship and a beautiful victory in the last stage of the Vuelta. Martina Alzini was strong, too: she joined our team in mid-season and immediately won at Arcade and Bovolone and she did very well on the track. In fact, Martina won the Italian title in the elimination and the bronze in the scratch, but she gave the best of herself internationally with the silver in the individual pursuit and in the team pursuit. And that team pursuit race was an emotion. Seeing our four girls Alzini, Balsamo, Consonni and Guazzini win silver and set the new Italian record was incredible. Chiara Consonni and Vittoria Guazzini also did very well: Chiara won 3 gold medals at the European track championships and finished third in a difficult race like Plouay, while Vittoria was very good at winning gold in the madison at the Europeans on track, gold in the under 23 team pursuit and bronze in the Italian time trial championship. Satisfaction also came on the track from Miriam Vece who won bronze in the 500 meters at both the World and European Championships and two tricolors both in the 500 meters and in the elimination. And then there was the first victory of Silvia Pollicini in Racconigi and beautiful results in the youth
sector with Matilde Bertolini, Italian junior women time trial champion and Beatrice Bertolini, Sofia Dognini, Marta Pavesi and Francesca Pellegrini, good at winning silver at the Italian championship.
